In a career spanning over 25 years, working in both the private and public sectors, Marni Sawicki founded her own consulting company, Indigo Pros, Inc in 2013. Serving many years in senior management roles at companies like State Farm Insurance Companies and National Interstate Corporation Marni developed and implemented cutting edge multi-state programs that saved millions over the years.
With a Master’s degree in business, Marni's most recent role was that of Vice President of Marketing. Elected in 2013, as Cape Coral, FL’s first woman mayor, she served the state’s 8th largest city for 4-years (2013- 2017). In 2015, she was awarded the “Elected Women of Excellence Award” from the National Foundation of Women Legislators (NFWL) and received two Home Rule Hero Awards through the Florida League of Cities for her work advocating on behalf of her city. She was also awarded the "Ally for Equality" award from Equality Florida (Human Rights Campaign) in 2014 for being the first mayor in SWFL to sign onto the "Freedom to Marry" resolution. With a population of approximately 195,000 residents, Mayor Sawicki championed the effort to streamline the city’s Strategic Plan while working alongside the city manager to develop a balanced scorecard, adding a new level of accountability to local government.
In April 2016, Bloomberg Philanthropies recognized those efforts, and selected Cape Coral to participate in their “What Works Cities” program. With the help of this initiative and under Mayor Sawicki’s leadership, the city delivered on its commitment to establish and provide open data and performance measures with the goal of making information easily accessible internally and with the public.
Having served on the Board of Directors for the Florida League of Mayors as well as a Trustee on the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust and a member of the US Conference of Mayors, Marni understands how important building relationships are for both personal and business. She has worked tirelessly to build a network of thought leaders over the years to tap into for resources, knowledge and guidance.
